COMPETITION POLICIES, PROCEDURES & DEFINITIONS

The Nile Ladies Golf Club shall be governed by the U.S. Golf Association (USGA) rules as modified by local rules. The USGA Handbook shall be used as guidelines by Committee Chairs

  • Prior to league play or competition:
    • All players must sign up for league play and competitions at least five (5) days in advance.
    • Also, all players are requested to forecast their participation for the following three (3) weeks, whether they are playing or not playing those weeks. Sign-up and forecast information should be added to the sign-up sheets in the club room on Tuesdays.
    • Members may also sign up by contacting a member of the Competition Committee via email, text or phone call at least five (5) days in advance. Please note that the sign-up sheet is the preferred method.
  • Competition Committee members:
    • Michele Catalano: michele@healycat.org, (206) 300-9150
    • Lisa Monke: lmmonke@frontier.com, (425) 774-6737
  • If a player who has signed up cannot play, they must contact a member of the Competition Committee as soon as their absence is known, preferably prior to Thursday, when the tee sheets are due to Nile for the following Tuesday.
  • If a player must cancel after Thursday, they must still contact a member of the Competition Committee as soon as possible.
  • If a player must cancel on the day of golf (Tuesdays), they must contact a member of the Competition Committee via text or phone call no later than 8:00 am.

Day of league play or competition:

  • Players must sign in on the day of league play or competition by 8:30am if teeing off in the first four groups, and by 9:00am if teeing off in a later group.
  • Players will prepare their own scorecard. If you have questions on how to fill in a scorecard, please ask the competition committee for assistance.
  • Your scorecard is given to your pair partner, noted on the tee sheet, who will record your score on the top line. You will record your partner’s score on the top of the card you carry. You should record your score on the bottom of the score card you carry so that you can check your score with your pair partner after nine (9) holes and at the end of the game.
  • After play has finished, the scores are tallied and the scorecards are signed and attested. Players sign the card with their official score, and attest their partner’s official scorecard.
  • The results of the league play, or competition are recorded on the score sheet, with each player recording their own scores. All scorecards are to be turned into the Competition Committee.

Post competition:

  • The Competition Committee will check the scorecards of individuals who have won awards.
  • All players must post their results on GHIN.

COMPETITION PLAY WEEKS

  • Except on “Choose your own Partner(s)” league play weeks, players will be divided into as many as four (4) flights, according to handicap. Prizes will be awarded to three (3) places in each flight.
  • Except on “Choose your own Partner(s)” league play weeks, there will be a different type of competition each week. A description of each possible type of competition is given at the end of this section.

“CHOOSE YOUR OWN PARTNER(S)” LEAGUE PLAY WEEKS:

  • No later than one (1) week prior to “Choose your own Partner(s)” league play weeks, players may choose all or some of their foursome partners.
  • Players may sign up with one (1), two (2), or three (3) other players.
  • Alternatively, players may sign up individually and the Competition Committee will randomly complete the foursomes utilizing all players signed up for that week.
  • It is to be understood by all players that cancellations or tee time schedule gaps may require the Competition Committee to make changes to requested foursomes.

  • For the purpose of determining winners, two (2) flights will be created and the players with the lowest net score in each will advance to the October tournament.
  • A player may win only once during the same year, so if either winner has previously won a Monthly Medal the advancing player will be the person with the second-best score in that flight.
  • If there is a tie, all players with the lowest net score would be considered Monthly Medal winners and all will advance to the October tournament.
